Radon
Radon is a naturally occurring radioactive gas which is emitted by the decay of uranium located in bedrock in the soil. It becomes an environmental hazard when it enters buildings mainly because of pressure differentials that exist between the air in the interior of the building and the air in the space immediately below the building foundation. Radon causes an estimated 20,000 deaths annually from lung cancer. EnviroPlan tests both the building interior air and water for radon and if levels are found that exceed EPA and state thresholds, recommends that an appropriate radon mitigation system be installed.
